Florian Döling Quartet
Unterwegs
The current program of the Florian Döling Quartet - founded for the summer garden concerts 2024 of the Freiburg musicians' initiative Jazz am Schönberg - is On the Road. A program title that, on the one hand, stands for a new song by Florian Döling of the same name, and on the other hand, for being on the road, being on tour, the everyday life of musicians. And being on the road in the sense of new musical challenges in a new line-up, always in search of new forms of expression for one's own music. Consequently, the album title is "Frozen Moments": what is meant is capturing the music in the moment of recording, in the next concert it will sound different again...
In Florian Döling's newly formed quartet, two generations come together: on the one hand, the young, rising generation with Charlotte Lang, Linus Rebmann and Aaron Döling. On the other hand, the established generation with Florian Döling.
For quite some time, Florian Döling has wanted to see how his compositions would be interpreted by the next generation. Selected compositions by his fellow musicians complement the program.
The program is stylistically very rich: from quiet, floating ballads to heavy swinging, melodic songs and hot funk grooves to open parts, sometimes in almost psychedelic moods.
